1. 1 TECHNICAL DATA SHEET REABILITA CAL CS NATURAL HYDRAULI C LIME CONSOLIDATION MORTAR FOR OLD MASONRIES 1. DESCRI PTION REABILITA CAL CS is a dry mortar , exclusively formulated from Natural Hydraulic Lime . I t i ncorpora tes carefully selected siliceous and calcareous aggregates and additions . It is intended for the consolidation and stabilization of old friable s ubstrates and regulation of water absorption before the application of the new coating. It has particular properties of thixotropy, adhesion, chemical resistance and durability particularly adapted to the intended purpose . It is a product intended for manu al application . 2. FIELD OF USE REABILITA CAL CS is used over old masonry surfaces in renova tion systems as consolida tion layer for substrate stabiliza tion and homogeniza tion . A lternativ ely, it may also be used when roughcast is needed on low absor ption subs trate s and/ o r needing water absorption regula tion . The exclusive use of the Natural Hydraulic Lime binder and its special composi tion result s in an exce l lent compatibili ty with the old substrate s, where not only the physical and mechanical compatibility s tands out but also the high chemical compatibility . 3. A P PLICA TION a) Substrate preparation First of all, complete removal of old renders should be carried out leaving the wall clear . The most appropriate r emoval methodologies should be used so as not to damage the existing wall. After removal, the substrate must be cleaned, brushing the stone and / or ceramic elements with wire brush in order to obtain a good adhesion surface for the new mortars . b) Mortar p r epara tion REABILITA CAL CS should be mixed in a continuous product mixing equipment. In machines with automatic water dosing, adjust the minimum water flow to allow good workability . In machines without automatic water dosing, mix REABILITA CAL CS , in the propor tion of 3,0 to 3,5 litre s of water per 25 - kg bag to obt ain the appropriate consist ency for consolida tion and levelling . c) A p plica tion A fter mixing , REABILITA CAL CS should be a p pli ed manual ly with a trowel pressing on the substrate in order to promote a good adhesion to it. d) Consolida tion and levelling REABILITA CAL CS should be ap pli ed so as to fill cavi tie s and any masonry imperfe ctions . This mortar layer is not intended to have a levelling fun ction and so, the contours of masonry elements may be seen at this stage . While this mortar layer is fresh, a square - mesh glass fib re should be incorporated , with ab out 40x40 mm apertures , with anti - alkali treatment , being embedded in the mortar by using the back of the trowel .

3. 3 TECHNICAL DATA SHEET REABILITA CAL CS NATURAL HYDRAULI C LIME CONSOLIDATION MORTAR FOR OLD MASONRIES If needed , an initial filling of ma sonry cavi ties should be carried out with tile fragment s i nvolv ed in REABILITA CAL CS o r stone por tion s similar to the masonry type resulting from grinding . Seeing that there are specific situa tion s in each rehabilitation work, our Technical Services shoul d be consulted when selecting products . A fter applying REABILITA CAL CS , a 4 - day minimum waiting time should be considered prior to the ap plica tion of REABILITA CAL RB o r another compatible coating . e) Restri ction s REABILITA CAL CS should not be ap pli ed a t r oom and substrate temperatur es below 5 °C and above 30 °C. It has a curing time of 28 d ays . In hot and/or dry weather or when substrate s are directly exposed to sunlight , the substrate should be previously wetted and application should only be started when it is dry . Under these condi tions daily watering of the surfaces should be carried out , for one week , so as to keep renders permanent ly moist . Application in the presence of strong winds may cause render cracking. In such case, walls should be protected s o as to minimize the effects of wind action . f) Complementary Advices  The mixing water should be free of any impurities (clays, organic matter) and drinking water should be preferably used ;  No mortar that has exceeded its open time should be applied . Do no t soften mortars by adding water after preparation.  Do not add any other products to the mortar . REABILITA CAL CS should be applied as it is shown in its original packaging . 5. PACKAGING AND VALIDITY Packaging 25 kg paper bags in plasticized pallets o f 60 bags Valid ity 12 months provided the conditions of the original packaging remain unaltered and in good storage conditions, protected from extreme temperature and humidity .
